And Then There Was … Hoarsebox.

aaaaand we’re over the hump of the week. Happy Wednesday afternoon, everyone! How about something funky and uplifting and catchy and fun? How about something you can shake your arse and vocal chords to? How about something from Dublin? What? No, that’s not a typo. Oh ye of little faith …

This is the sublimely gnarly Hoarsebox with something box-fresh for yis. This is Add It Up; it’s one of the new tracks from the lads’ debut album, which will be a ray of sunshine in the January 2011 gloom. No jobs, no leadership, no prospects … but a full Hoarsebox album! Huzzah! Pints! Hoarsebox have been working on the album with noses to the grindstone in Mississippi, of all places, so Add It Up is pretty redolent of deep-south gospel, if it were conceived by Willie Wonka during a skinny-dip in his chocolate lake. Love it? Yes I do! How did you know?

The lads are playing Whelans on 11th of November, which will be the first airing of the new songs. So yeah, a pretty special gig. €10 a head, and highly, highly recommended.

About Lisa McInerney

That cranky young wan from award-winning blog, Arse End Of Ireland, Lisa’s also noted for her dedication to cobbling together unrelated imprecations to make new and bemusing insults, mostly because she’s not eloquent enough to otherwise explain her deep-seated terror of genre fiction and Fianna Fail. In 2006, The Irish Times called her “… the most talented writer at work in Ireland today”, and her mam still can’t understand why this is better than being the new Marian Keyes. Which it totally is.
