Live Review: Warpaint @ Crawdaddy, Thursday 21st October

Since the release of their 2009 EP Exquisite Corpse, Los Angeles all female four-piece Warpaint have garnered quite a bit of attention – a ‘buzz band’ in every sense of the word. Tonight’s show falls on the eve of the release of the band’s debut album The Fool ­– which, if advance reviews are to be believed, might just be one of the finest debut offerings of 2010. Crawdaddy as a live music venue can be claustrophobic at the best of times – but tonight’s packed-to-the-rafters sell out affair is certainly not for the faint of heart. The common approach seems to be to find a vantage point and stick to it, and let such luxuries as purchasing a pint or a trip to the bathroom wait until after the show.
