Christmas Countdown: Top 25 Movies of 2010 – No.22

Day four brings us to number 22 on the list…

The writers of Bad Santa bring us the so-crazy-its-got-to-be-true adaptation of Steve McVicker’s 2003 book about the real-life adventures of con man Steven Russell. A guy who was living an ordinary life as a married cop who after an accident suddenly decides to go gay. It seems that being gay is expensive and so Steven embarks on an increasingly daring scheme of cons, tricks and ruses which lead him straight to the big house.

Verdict: You’ll either love it or hate it, there’s no middle ground. Either way there is no denying that Carrey puts in a remarkable performance. Proof if ever it was needed that he’s better off not appealing to the lowest common denominator.

About Niall

The proverbial man lost in La Mancha. Sports aficionado and all-round scoundrel. Über-geek to boot. I run the movie website Scannain.com and can usually be found twittering away as @niallxmurphy.
