Villagers are (is) adding a second date for Vicar St on Wednesday 22 December. This gig is in addition to a 7-date tour of Ireland in December that will take in Waterford, Kilkenny, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Belfast and Dublin. Villagers have already had a meteoric year with the release of their debut album, Becoming A Jackal (Domino), in May, which went straight to Number 1 in Ireland and the nomination for this year’s Mercury Music Prize Album Of The Year, not to mention the heaving tents at both Oxegen and Electric Picnic.

Dark Room Notes formed in Galway in 2006. After their first single Love Like Nicotine in 2007 they won the viewer’s choice poll on RTE TVs ‘Other Voices’. 2007 also saw the release of the critically acclaimed Dead Start Program EP, the lead track from which, Shake Shake My Ceiling ending up featured on the film ‘A Kiss for Jed Wood’. 2009 saw the release of their debut album We Love You Dark Matter which secured a nomination for the Choice Music Prize for best Irish Album of 2009 and the band subsequently signed to Berlin/London dance label BBE Records who released their album internationally in 2010. 2011 will see the release of their second album which promises a deeper, dancier, more electronic sound than before. Three iconic Irish indie bands of the 90’s are joining forces for The Reverberation Tour; the first time in 15 years that all three bands will play together on the same stage. In this triple headed show the bands will alternate nightly and promise to play only the classics such as Power of Dreams’ “100 Ways To Kill A Love”, The Sultans of Ping’s “Where’s Me jumper” and the Frank and Walters’ “After All”. Basically a night of barnstorming indie classics. They play Dublin’s Academy Thursday 23 December.
Limerick trio We Should Be Dead released a new single “Breathe In” on 22 October and have just released this video to accompany it. It’s taken from their current album Dreamstate. They play Dolan’s Warehouse, Limerick on Sunday 26 December. And here is a taste of what to expect.

It’s been over three years since Iron & Wine released The Shepherd’s Dog, a collection of songs that Sam (Beam) himself described as an attempt to replicate something in the vein of Tom Waits’ Swordfishtrombones. Kiss Each Other Clean (release date Friday 21 January) is the next logical step and should have been done sooner had life not got in the way. Iron & Wine perform live in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on Tuesday 15 February.
Thin Lizzy featuring Scott Gorham (Guitar), Brian Downey (Drums), Darren Wharton (keyboards), Vivian Campbell (Guitar), Marco Mendoza (Bass Guitar) and Ricky Warwick (Lead vocals/Guitar) play two Irish dates as part of their forthcoming European tour. Spend an evening at The Olympia Theatre on Thursday 3 March 2011 with the Boys as Bubbles tries to create a new career for himself in the movie industry, Julian puts his latest money-making scams into action and Ricky has an idea that can ‘change the world!’ Originally the concept of creator/director Mike Clattenburg, Trailer Park Boys began as a short film starring John Paul Tremblay (Julian) and Robb Wells (Ricky) which debuted to rave reviews at the 1999 Atlantic Film Festival. The premise: a camera crew chronicles the boys’ adventures living in the Sunnyvale trailer park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Recruiting Mike Smith (Bubbles) to complete the haphazard trio, the idea spun off a mockumentary style show which ran for seven seasons and produced two TV specials on Showcase (2001-2008). The show was Showcases’ high-rated Canadian program and airs in over 15 countries. Guest starts included Rush’s Alex Lifeson, Sebastian Bach and Rita MacNeil.
“Bloodless Coup” will be the 5th studio album from Bell X1 released on the band’s own Belly Up label in Ireland on 1 April 2011. This follow up to “Blue Lights On The Runway” will be promoted by Paul, David and Dominic with a series of concerts. Confirmed so far are Wednesday 6 April and Thursday 7 April in Vicar Street, Dublin.
In anticipation of her second album “21″ Grammy Award-winning artist Adele will play a very special date at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on Tuesday 12 April. Adele burst onto the scene in 2007 when her debut hit single Chasing Pavements topped the UK charts on its release. Her debut album “19″ gained the young English singer-songwriter a Mercury Prize nomination and two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Chasing Pavements.
