Never heard of Delan O’Rourke before… try this for size
On its release in Ireland, ‘Since Kyabram’ reached double platinum status and garnered Hot Press magazine’s ‘Best Debut Album’ award. A major record deal with V2 and a publishing deal with BMG followed, as did patronage from his peers – invitations to support Snow Patrol at Marlay Park in Dublin, Teddy Thompson on his UK tour, The Divine Comedy for dates in Germany and the U.K., and to perform at the legendary 100 Club at the request of Paul Weller.
And Declan O’Rourke is back after a three year absense [he was doing other stuff], with his third studio album Mag Pai Zai. It goes on sale Friday 8th April.
This is the first album to be released on Declan’s own record label, Rimecoat Records and was recorded primarily at The Factory and Windmill Lane Studios and mixed at world-famous Platinum Sound Recording Studios, NYC.
The album sees the return of some very interesting collaborations including Steve Wickham and also Fiachra Trench [his previous work includes The Pogues’ classic ‘Fairytale of New York,’ Sinead O’Connor’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U,’ and Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl’].
The album will lead with the single ‘A Little Something’. Other songs of note on Mag Pai Zai include ‘Slieve Bloom’, ‘Langley’s Requiem’ and ‘Be Brave And Believe’. Declan will follow the release of Mag Pai Zai with a nationwide tour in May/June.

Dear Declan,
if you are reading this mate… I’ll swap you a signed copy of your album for its worth in pints. Bruxelles isn’t a bad spot. Throw in a t-shirt and I’ll do back up vocals [and maybe some guitar] on your next album. Betcha Trench and Wickham never made you an offer like that.
You’re a leg-end,
Peter
