The Dingle Film Festival

While most across the country were wearing giant felt hats, pinning lumps of dying foliage to their lapels and waiting for barmen to draw wonky shamrocks in their pints, those cultured folks down in Dingle, County Kerry were celebrating yesterday’s St Patrick’s Day with a considerably more arty affair. The Dingle Film Festival kicked off last night and will run for the next 3 days and will see the small fishing village play host to a plethora of Hollywood royalty. Now into its fifth year the festival is getting a reputation as the ‘film makers film festival’ as it offers unparrallelled access to some of cinema’s hottest actors and directors. Emmet Scanlan & What the Good Thought Haiti Fundraiser Sunday 20th March

Galway’s Emmet Scanlan & What the Good Thought will be playing a charity fundraiser in Druid Theatre, Druid Lane, Galway this Sunday 20th March at 7pm. The gig is in aid of Haven, a charity helping in the reconstruction of Haiti after the devastating earthquake there last year. Emmet plans to travel to Haiti in April to work with Haven, having spent a month there last year building houses and facilities in areas affected by the earthquake. Admission is €12 and support is by Sabrina Dinan. All proceeds from the bar will also be going to help Haven. Next Friday Emmet and co. release a charity single for Haiti on iTunes, called “A Man May Cry”. Proceeds from this release will also be donated to the relief efforts in Haiti.
