Fred’s Leaving My Empire.

What? Cork favourites Fred leaving the People’s Republic? Say it ain’t so! No, my stupidly misleading headline refers to Leaving My Empire, Fred’s fourth studio album, due for release this April 15th. Jesus, where does the time go? The album will be preceded by the very delightfully Fredish If Not Now When. Here, la.

If Not Now When by FREDTHEBAND

Nice, no?

Recorded by producer Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire) and mixed by Ben Hillier (Elbow, Blur, Editors), we’re promised that Leaving My Empire is Fred’s most ambitious album to date. We’ll be keeping our ears pricked. If you’re mad to see Fred being all organic and that, you can catch ‘em all as follows:

April 15th - Tower Records Instore - Dublin
April 16th - HMV Instore - Cork
May 16th - Blackbox Theatre, Belfast
May 19th - Whelans, Dublin
May 20th - The Forum, Waterford
May 21st - Cork Opera House, Cork
May 26th - Townhall Theatre, Galway
May 27th - Belltable Theatre, Limerick
June 1st - Wexford Arts Centre, Wexford
June 2nd - The Spirit Store, Dundalk

… and I would hope at a fair few of the festivals too, as Fred are ridiculously suited to the smell of freshly cut grass and sweaty good times. Enjoy!

About Lisa McInerney

That cranky young wan from award-winning blog, Arse End Of Ireland, Lisa’s also noted for her dedication to cobbling together unrelated imprecations to make new and bemusing insults, mostly because she’s not eloquent enough to otherwise explain her deep-seated terror of genre fiction and Fianna Fail. In 2006, The Irish Times called her “… the most talented writer at work in Ireland today”, and her mam still can’t understand why this is better than being the new Marian Keyes. Which it totally is.
