Colaiste Dhulaigh - End Of Year Show 2011

Yesterday, very late evening I found myself en route to Dublin City Councils civic offices for the Colaiste Dhulaigh End of Year Show. It was the 2nd student end of year show I’ve been to this year…. the one previous being that of Tipperary Institute’s Pen & Pixel… Back to it. One of the first things I was met with was Leah Kennedy and her knitted paper table…. yes you read that correct Listen! In the fine art seection of particular interest was Natalie Murphy’s work…. On my way round I bumped into Rebecca Kenny who names her fashion label as BK Designs… I know very little zero about fashion and recorded this video of her work But I met Rebecca after the vid was recorded and got a little more detail from her Listen! Movie Trailer: Prom

If you took a shine to Aimee Teegarden in Scream 4 then this might be worth a look. I personally will mostly be focusing on Nicholas Braun. It’s out on June 3rd.

Neil’s Movie Round-up #3

Attack The Block’s premise is so simple. Aliens (think big critters, rather than Mork) land in South London. They chase local shennagians-ers around for a bit, and everyone learns a little something. Joe Cornish has since co-written Tintin with Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright, a fanboy’s Holy Trinity. With “Attack” he has more than paid his dues to be associated with these writers. Yes, the story is basic, and the creatures are made from shaved dogs and blue tack, but it’s the simplicity of his characters in an unforgiving and depraved environment that works. They are criminals, but Cornish never patronises youth and circumstance, and the story evolves into more social drama than scary film. Jodie Whitaker’s Sam, mid-invasion, hears that her initial attackers were more scared during their first meeting and the subsequent robbery than she was.
