Reader’s Wives are a band that I’ve a great deal of respect for. Not only are they a very talented bunch, but they’re also one of the hardest working bands that I know of. Their EP ‘Secrecy and Sex’ was great. Five tracks that didn’t take themselves too seriously, yet oozing with an Irish quality that I haven’t heard in quite some time.
So, I was intrigued when the band got in touch to let me know that their new album is available for free download until July 1st when it is officially released. You can grab it on their bandcamp: http://readerswives.bandcamp.com/ or right here:
It’s a fantastic collection of songs, with quality lyrics, and a much more electric sound than the EPs ala Manic Street Preachers and Jane’s Addiction. Album opener ‘Lenny Fucking Bruce’ is pure class and I can’t stop singing the chorus of track 3 ‘Light Up’.
These guys are quality and I would recommend that you download the new album while it’s still free. Or better yet, download it for free and pay for it when it’s released on July 1st! We’ll be posting about them here on the week of July 1st with a cool competition, so check back for more details!
