Abseil 1000 at Aviva Stadium - Photos and video

“Just step over there now”. I’m on the lighting access gantry in the Aviva Stadium about to abseil down 130 feet to the stadium floor. You can see what happened next below: I’d posted about Abseil 1000 a few weeks ago and the event went really well. I have to thank both Mike O’ Shea of Work at Height Training and the volunteers from Chernobyl Children’s Charity. I’ve raised almost €500 from offline and online donations so I’m delighted (still time to donate *wink*wink*nudge*nudge). Thanks to @cloudsteph and @bngr for coming along to film/take photos. There’s more after the break:

You HAVE to hear: New Villagers track ‘Cecelia & Her Selfhood’

Ok. I say you have to hear, but you also have to SEE this gorgeous video. It’s been quiet lately on the Conor O’Brien front which presumably and hopefully means new material. This excites us to no end as we are very big Villagers fans here at Culch towers. The blurb accompanying the video gives nothing away however merely stating that O’Brien has finally committed to tape what’s long been a fan favourite of the live sets. Which sets one wondering if tracks like ‘In A New Found Land, You Are Free’ (immortalised on the Live at the Workmans’ LP) will also be committed to tape soon and end up on the sophmore effort? The full blurb; “It is with great pleasure that we present to you, the new video for ‘Cecelia & her Selfhood’. A long-standing live favourite in Villagers shows, ‘Cecelia’ has finally been committed to tape. Indeed, … There’s more

Events: FM104′s ‘The Gig’

What are you doing on Friday October 14th? We only ask because we reckon FM104′s ‘The Gig’ - with proceeds going to the Help A Dublin Child appeal - is well worth a look. Featuring Bressie, Royseven and Cars Love Girls who’ve all been on the festival circuit and impressing music reviewers like ourselves all summer, it’s also playing host to veteran rockers Aslan. Yep, they of Summer in Dublin fame - and while we don’t actually remember anything like a summer in Dublin this year we’re still up for hearing a classic performed live. Not enough for you? Then it’s probably worth noting that the headliner is none other than Olly Murs. It’s for charity. We like charity. We also like good music and they’re covered on that score. Tickets are €30 (standing) or €35 (seated) and you can get them at the usual. Sorted? Sorted.
