Electric Ireland Tweet Em Home for Christmas offers you the chance to drive a DeLorean full of celebs…

Want to drive a DeLorean across Ireland? Want to get behind the wheel of a New York Taxi cab and take Andrew Stanley and Joe Rooney for a spin? This Christmas, you could.

Electric Ireland (the ESB to your Ma) are launching Tweet Em Home For Christmas where three teams of celebs (Katie Van Buren and Mundy in the DeLorean representing Concern, Andrew Stanley and Joe Rooney in the New York Taxi representing the Irish Cancer Society and Brent Pope and Keith Barry in an Ecar representing the ISPCC) will take part in a two-day drive across Ireland on December 8th and 9th where their cars will be powered by tweets and possibly driven by you…

The competition, launched this morning in Stephens Green, has a closing date of December 1st if you want to be a driver and you can enter over on Facebook. All of the teams taking part will receive €10,ooo for their nominated charity but the cutthroat dash across Ireland fueled by tweet petrol (or twiesel?!) will determine which charity bags an additional €20,000.

How’s it gonna work? The celeb teams will compete to generate tweets using a hashtag and those tweets will power their cars as they cross the country. Internet types can pick a charity to support by tweeting or posting on Facebook to top up the ‘tweet tank’.

The route will see the cars travel from Dublin to Galway and back again across the two days so you could well see them along the road and they’ll be completing challenges along the way to earn additional tweet energy for the cars as well.

We think it sounds a bit twerrific. Good luck, guys.

Well done, clever use of Social media….but seriously since when has ESB been known as Electric Ireland?
