2 New Shows for The Gaeity Theatre: Plaza Suite & Improbable Frequency

Following its hugely successful, Irish Times Theatre Award nominated production of The Importance of Being Earnest starring Stockard Channing in June 2010, award-winning theatre company Rough Magic are delighted to return to Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre with not one but two shows in early 2012.

Rough Magic proudly presents Neil Simon’s hit comedy PLAZA SUITE For 14 performances only February 20 – March 3, 2012 at the Gaiety Theatre

“If only walls could talk…well in Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite they do just that’

  1. Having entertained sell-out audiences in the Pavilion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire last July and following a nationwide tour next January and February, Rough Magic bring their highly acclaimed production of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite to the Gaiety Theatre for two weeks only from February 20th to March 3rd 2012.
  2. Praised by the New York Times as ‘an impossibly zany new musical’, Improbable Frequency is a tale of spies, physics, true-love and double crossing which returns after its very successful runs in Dublin, Edinburgh and New York for 14 performances only at the Gaiety from March 13th to March 24th 2012.

Artistic Director and co-founder of Rough Magic, Lynne Parker is pleased to announce the company’s return to the Gaiety, saying ‘’Following the success of The Importance of Being Earnest last year we are delighted to return to the Gaiety with not just one but two of our most popular productions in the New Year. This is a wonderful opportunity for three young directors and a young designer to encounter this superb theatre as we introduce a new generation of artists to the Grand Old Lady of South King Street’.

Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Neil Simon, Plaza Suite is a play in three acts detailing the misadventures of three very different couples who successively occupy Suite 719 of New York City’s famous Plaza Hotel. Recipient of more Academy and Tony nominations than any other writer and author of the classics The Odd Couple and Brighton Beach Memoirs, Plaza Suite showcases Simon at his best - witty, sophisticated and deliciously funny.
