New Music: The Jezabels

Aussie offering The Jezabels are a two-girl, two-boy setup (what we like to call a ‘two up, two down outfit’ here in Culch Towers… oh use your imagination). Featuring keyboardist Heather Shannon, drummer Nik Kaloper, guitarist Sam Lockwood and Hayley Mary full of pace, (owner the Florence-esque skyscraper vocals that completely sell them), the genre-spanning four-piece release their debut album ‘Prisoner’ here on March 2nd.

Their early 2009 EP ‘The Man is Dead’ featured early wins such as this one, Disco Biscuit Love:

While late 2009′s ‘She’s So Hard’ EP was home to ‘Hurt Me’, a sumptuous vocal offering reminiscent of Kate Bush:

Their last EP was 2010′s ‘Dark Storm’, the standout track from which was ‘She’s So Hard’ (no, we’re not mucking up, it really wasn’t on the one called She’s So Hard)

Last year saw them feature as a showcased artist at SXSW, and now that you’re up to speed and totally hooked, get ready for Prisoner. It’s already hit number 2 in the Aussie charts and been certified gold. YouTube ‘Endless Summer’, you won’t be disappointed, and get liking them. They have a bunch of UK dates in February but no Irish one, a clear lack of buzz that needs to be sorted out…
