Procrastination Alert: The Metro Herald 2011 Survey

You know that awesome moment when a boy you like knows who you are? This week we got a press release from Metro Herald… yeah, those guys with the free paper. It made our bloody day. Metro is one of those free things that isn’t shit. We’ve been known to twitpic their more random articles on the Culch Twitter account when we’re on lunchbreak in Culch Towers. We like blipparing stuff (look, if you don’t know don’t embarrass yourself by asking, just Google it…) and their cute animal photos fill us with joy. So yes, we were completely delighted and totally impressed with ourselves that they know who we are and naturally thought even if this press release is about Anne Doyle’s merkin, we’re still covering it. As it turned out, the press release was about the Metro Herald 2011 Survey - The State of Us - and we just … There’s more

Chris de Burgh responds to Peter Crawley’s negative Irish Times review

Sometimes you’ve just got to admire a man who stands up for himself. Chris De Burgh certainly did in his response to a fairly negative review in the Irish Times recently. Here’s the original review from his gig in the Gaiety on September 3. Hot Press wrote the story including Peter Crawley’s reaction to the email he received. And they also published the full text of the email, as below:

Apprentice S05E05 Review & Gossip

Our “rough tough creme puff” from NY, who was going to give us “balls right now” is gone! Even she had to admit that her teams product was Pants! Yes last week the teams had the branding and marketing challenge, oh and there were hot branding irons in the fire by the time the final three were in the boardroom. Kim sensing her time was up and Lorraine was after sticking the knife in, turned to her Brutus with a venomous look claiming “I have always championed you”, and while Philip drawled “That’s so romantic” Sir Allen gave her a one way ticket back to the big apple. She did as many a losing apprentice and hoist her self by her own petard, claiming that this was the challenge she was here for, she took leadership of team Ignite. However, that was about as far as she took it as … There’s more

So, Pat Kenny’s Gone…

Pat Kenny, knowing me, knowing you, AHAA!!! Some people will be delighted. Some will be quietly disappointed. But either way Pat Kenny has thrown in the towel. “All good things must come to an end”, said Pat. And with that, as announced on tonight’s show, his tenure of The Late Late Show comes to a close at the end of the current season.

Biffo Takes A Dump In The National Gallery

So who is the mystery hero artist who managed a coup at the National Gallery on Saturday, sneaking in and displaying their satirical work of our beloved Taoiseach? The unknown renegade artist displayed a portrait of Biffo in all his glory, sitting on the loo with a roll of toilet paper in his hand. It seems that that artists also pulled a fast one in the RHA later on Saturday afternoon by hanging a second nude portrait of Cowen holding only a pair of y-fronts. While the Galleries have been assured that the Gardaí are out in force trying to track down the graphic terrorist the public seem to appreciate the instance of art imitating life, one woman commenting, “Well, at least that is one mess he has been able to clean up.” Image: Via Allan (Not the portrait in question) The caption for the artwork read: “Following a … There’s more
