Music Video: Grimes - Oblivion

Maybe you think Grimes is the next big thing. Maybe you think Grimes is just another over-hyped indie darling, beloved of bloggers but rightfully ignored by everyone else or maybe you have absolutely no idea who Grimes is and couldn’t care less. Regardless, she has a new album, Visions, coming out next week and to whet your appetite there’s a new video for Oblivion, one of the stand out tracks. The song itself is a hazy, meandering pop gem while the video features Ms Boucher dancing and singing in various locations with assorted randomers and passersby. Check it out below. Ones To Watch #1 - The Big Pink

I’m often quite taken by bands that sign to 4AD (The Breeders, The National, Camera Obscura, Bon Iver…) and the Big Pink are a fantastic addition to this UK based Indie label. They’re set to release their self produced debut album in September, and when discussing how Brief History of Love was named, Milo their synth player said “Every song is a love song to some degree, about every different aspect of love… The good, the bad, the boring, the exciting, the dreams, the nightmares, the whole thing and I guess that’s what encompasses the whole album, and we have a song called ‘A Brief History Of Love’ so it’s apt.” I’m hoping the album can even partially live up to that description. The current single “Dominos” is an insanely catchy elctro-rock tune and I’m hoping these guys will deviate from their massive European tour to play an intimate gig … There’s more
