Trailer Round-up - Oct 28th

Warner Bros. have given us our first look at the latest Clint Eastwood movie, Invictus, starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. The story is based on the John Carlin book Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed a Nation which is the true story of newly elected President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, played here by Morgan Freeman, and his attempts to unite his bitterly divided country through sport. No sport is South Africa highlighted the Apartheid racial divide more than rugby, and so Mandela set about rectifying the situation in the run-up to the South African based 1995 World Cup. Matt Damon plays Francois Pienaar the captain of the host nation, desperate to win the Webb Ellis trophy for his team and for his country. Or issue #379 of Pointless Hollywood Remakes: Why? Oh why would they remake Stallone’s Cliffhanger? Can someone please leave a comment explaining the rationale behind that? Seriously! There’s also another Fright Night reboot/remake/rehash in the works. Not to mention the remade-a-million-times A Christmas Carol - the promo poster is out now. And I’m not done - I mentioned a few days ago that there is another Jekyll movie int he works with Keanu in the title role. Well, it seems it will have a rival. In Jekyll and Hyde, Forrest Whitaker and 50 Cent will take on the title roles. The follow up to Paris, Je t’Aime, set in New York, has finally got a a release date. Movie News 22/04/09

Well hello fellow movie buffs, as Star Trek, Wolverine, Terminator Salvation, Transformers, Harry Potter and Angels & Demons all edge closer to our screens, it’s worth remembering that there are other things going on in the world of film: Arnold Schwarzenegger has been talking about his cameo in the new Terminator movie. It seems he agreed to do it as long as the technology was right and he didn’t have to perform. He’s a busy man these days. Anyway, I’m interested to see John Connor’s reaction when he sets eyes on Arnie’s T-800 or the first time in many years. Wolverine’s Hugh Jackman has been immortalised in stone. Well his hands have at least: he has left his his hand and foot prints into cement outside the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Oh, and there is a new Wolverine trailer now available.
