Finding out about HOGAN with an exclusive performance of Jealousy

If there’s one Irish band that deserves success by dint of sheer enthusiasm, energy, great sounds and a mischievous sense of fun, it’s HOGAN. I’ve had their single ‘Jealousy‘ playing in the kitchen for a good while now. Reminiscent a tiny bit of McFly, a small bit of Busted and a huge amount of their own infectious, get-the-body-moving pop - though I’d hate to even label it as that. It’s just a great song with good, memorable lyrics. If it’s a reflection on the new album, I’m definitely buying it. And so I decided to find out more about them.

A giddy interview with The Brilliant Things

The Brilliant Things are opening Oxegen 2009 today, with the Artane Band no less. They’re playing the main stage at 2pm. They’re a “brand new offering of intelligent synth-pop” apparently. Greg and Marie are the wonderful duo in the band. Greg French, a multi-instrumentalist, has worked as both house and assistant engineers in many top international studios, working with artists such as The Corrs, Van Morrison, Mutt Lang and Brian Eno. Marie Junior has grown up in the music environment, her father being a musician and band manager, who worked with many illustrious groups. Marie previously embarked on a solo career under the name Sweet T, gaining an Irish Chart’s Top 40 placing with her take on The Mekan’s “I Love a Millionaire“.
