Rightio! Couch Potato is back like the proverbial bad penny (I know you’ve missed it), and is just as jam-packed full of shiny disc wonder as it’s always been. This glorious sunny weather just can’t last and when it inevitably ends it’s nice to know that there’s something good on TV that you can tune into, without resorting to Fair City.
Couch Potato this week comes to you a day later than usual. The Oscar nominations yesterday knocked me back a bit so I do apologise. We have an interesting if unexceptional line-up this week, but there should be a little something in the sack to suit everyone’s tastes.
Tuesday is ordinarily the most depressing day of the week. With that in mind I’ve brought a little something to little up the dour mood, a collection of new DVDs that will keep you entertained right up till the weekend. So forget your boss, your husband/wife/kids, and snuggle up tight with a good glass of vino and a nice new movie. You know you deserve it.
It’s Tuesday so that means it’s DVD day. We have quite a selection box of treats this week on the DVD front including a major summer blockbuster, an inoffensive if poor kids movie, an atypical Sandra Bullock rom-com and decent horror flick. Also out are two new releases from the BBC in our TV section. So a little something for all you fellow couch potatoes.
Okay folks we are now officially one month out from Christmas. Now the real fun begins with shops opening later and later in an attempt to syphon what meagre earning we have from our pockets. Looking to tempt us into a spending spree this week is a new line-up of shiny goodness for your home entertainment pleasure. See let’s looky what we have here…
It’s Tuesday again friends, a day named for the Norse god Tyr, god of law and war. Whilst we have nothing in our goodie bag on the law side this week, we do have plenty with fighting. Some of those fights are interstellar, some domestic and yet another is within the confines of one man’s head. For this is a day truly worthy of the gods with offerings of such majesty that the heart can scarcely believe.
It’s Tuesday, a day the Greeks consider to be an unlucky day. I, on the other-hand, happen to think is really rather lucky, because we get a whole batch of brand new DVDs to watch from the comfort of our own homes. This particular Tuesday sees the release of a really quite excellent horror film from genre master Sam Raimi, a fun summer computer animated B-movie homage, a Hallowe’en themed direct-to-DVD horror, and another batch of TV shows from the States.
Tuesday is the traditional day for movie studios and distributors to line retail and rental outlets with the newest DVD and Bluray releases for you to pick up on your way home. It’s a rather peculiar day but it’s been going on for years now so there’s not much chance of it changing. This week sees the release of a disappointing summer blockbuster, a remake of a classic horror movie, a documentary featuring some Irish sporting icons and a whole host of American TV.
