It’s that time of year again. The full Oxegen 2011 line-up has been announced and you’ve got to make up your mind about whether you’re still young enough to enjoy dancing in a field and being covered in more muck than Babe. (A good indicator of youth is whether or not you remember Babe and if you don’t, piss off, we can’t afford to get any more frown lines glaring at you). Coldplay, The Script, Arctic Monkeys, Paulo Nutini, Foo Fighters, The Black Eyed Peas…those are the ones your Ma could name if the music police had her over a barrel (not that we’d be making assertions about anyone having your Ma over a barrel, hot and all as she obviously is, sure didn’t she make you). GIGS Brandon Flowers, usually the front man of Killers, remains stubbornly proud of his hometown, Las Vegas. he makes that clear when discussing his first solo album, Flamingo, which takes its name from a Sin City downtown street on which Sam’s Town is located. That’s where Flowers used to buy his records. “I grew up there, so it’s close to my heart,” … “I feel a responsibility to represent where I’m from, to defend it. TICKETS Thin Lizzy is touring again. OK, obviously this is Thin Lizzy without its former very famous front man Phil Lynott. The new line-up is Scott Gorham (Guitar - Thin Lizzy), Brian Downey (Drums - Thin Lizzy), Darren Wharton (keyboards - Thin Lizzy), Vivian Campbell (Guitar - Def Leppard), Marco Mendoza (Bass Guitar - Whitesnake, Ted Nugent) and Ricky Warwick (Lead vocals/Guitar), and they are playing The Waterfront on 16 February and Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on 17 February 2011. Tickets for both concerts go on sale next Friday 27 August 2010 at 9AM from usual Ticketmaster outlets nationwide or directly from the venue box offices.
