Competition: Event of the Week 9th - 15th May

This time around we’ve chosen the Clockwork Apple Mini Festival. Happening in Whelans from Thursday 12th - Saturday 14th, the 3-day event is being billed by organisers as ‘easing everyone into the festival spirit’ and will feature 11 acts across the three nights covering electro-pop, rock and folk. We’re particularly looking forward to Thursday’s headliners Miracle Bell but Saturday’s looking promising too with a set from Belfast’s Morning Claws and a late-night slot featuring Sleep Thieves. Tickets are €10 per night or €15 for the three nights and being the nice guys that we are, we have a pair of weekend tickets to give away. Leave a comment below telling us what band name you’d choose if you were in a band and we’ll pick a winner on Thursday morning. The full line up is below:

Cork legends (sometimes for their music) Republic of Loose continue their four month live residency at the Academy, Dublin - one Friday each month from September through to December on Friday October 15th. These shows will be the band’s only Dublin gigs of 2010. After returning from the States to open for U2 in Croke Park on their 360 tour in 2009, they spent the latter half of the year writing new material for their fourth album. In May 2010 Republic of Loose flew to Baltimore in the US to begin work on their forthcoming album. Recorded in … There’s more

They’ve had some great acts including Heathers, We Cut Corners, Yes Cadets, Holy Roman Army, Hooray for Humans, House of Cosy Cushions, Zealots, Little Xs For Eyes, 8 Ball and now the lovely Crayonsmith and Sleep Thieves. Clockwork Apple also gives non-Dublin bands the opportunity a chance to play a Dublin gig where they’re they’re looked after well. This Friday, 28th May, Clockwork Apple plays host to Sleep Thieves, Crayonsmith and Silhouette, and we have a great prize of tickets and goodies to give away. Since the release of their debut EP It Was Only A Satellite last June and follow up single City Lights in October, electro pop trio Sleep Thieves have steadily built themselves a loyal fan base. They were named one of … There’s more
