Midsummer Festival 2009, Cork

The longest day of the year is almost upon us – shocking really! To celebrate the summer solstice Cork City has a two week long festival of culture ending on the 29th (that’s gigs, shows and other stuff). In fact it started on the 13th to there is a lot of catching up to do. And I’m only going to cover the items that I find interesting here. Dance, break a world record & change lives

That’s essentially the message behind Special Olympics Ireland’s latest fundraing event. Taking place as part of the opening festivities for Fleadh Nua 2009 in Ennis, Co.Clare on Sunday May 17th, SOI are looking for people to help them break the world record for the largest ceili ever. What can you do? It’s pretty easy to get involved: Buy the DVD Sell the DVD Donate Volunteer (stewards etc required for the day) Tell everyone you know! If you want to purchase the DVD in advance, you’ve only got about a weed to do so with shipping etc. The DVD is only €10 and proceeds go towards a fantastic organisation.
