Grunge band, SOUTH and ‘The Making of Insula’
Kilkenny grunge band, South are due to release their first album ‘Insula’ on Friday next week, 31 July in Whelans. South came together in June 2008, and went on to win the Hype Entertainment Battle Of The Bands just three months later. Following the competition the band underwent a line-up change; founding members Thomas Donoghue (Guitar/Vocals) and Ken Farrell (Bass) were joined by Alan Dawson (Drums/Vocals). The trio spent several months writing and rehearsing material for their debut album which was recorded in the Mill Studios in April 2009 as part of their Battle Of The Bands winnings. They were joined in the studio by film maker/photographer Ross Costigan, who shot and produced the three part mini-series ‘The Making of Insula’.
