Pics: Oxegen Day 1

We’ve got our wristbands on, here we come, da da dum, we’ve got our wristbands on, hit and run, then we’re gone… Day 1 of Oxegen at saw team Culch arriving at Punchestown to the strains of Weezer before hitting up the new Captain Morgan tent to meet the man himself. From there we split up to hit My Chemical Romance, Tinie Tempah and Example before huddling together again for the first big rainfall of the festival at The Script. Friday impressions say the ground is squelchy and calls for wellies, the staff and security on-site are the best of helpful form and somehow, there seem to be more places to sit this year. The Big, Big Music Round-Up #2

It’s been another busy week of music news…most especially for those of us who are signed up to more mailing lists than could possibly be healthy. Fox Jaw Bounty Hunter launch their debut album today. The Limerick four-piece spent five months in studio with Owen Lewis whose credits include working with the likes of REM and Snow Patrol and the result is The Devil in Music, the first single from which is ‘Thread the Needle’. “The single features an arrangement of musical notes to form a chord known as a tritone. In the Middle Ages this grouping of notes was frowned upon and in some cases banned for its demonic and evil sound, and thus was nicknamed ‘Diabolus in Musica’ – Latin for The Devil In Music.” I like the sound, I’m not sure about the vocals.
