The incredible lineup for the Guinness 250 celebrations

I’m taking Friday 25 September off work. Definitely. This afternoon we were at the launch of the Guinness 250 Arthur’s Day Celebrations. We watched The Chapters and Noah and the Whale perform. Here’s Noah and the Whale performing Rocks and Daggers: What’s Arthur’s Day? Well, on Thursday September 24 2009 at 17:59 Dublin time, there’ll be a toast to Arthur Guinness to mark 250 years since the signing of the 9,000 year lease on the James’s Gate Brewery and to kick off the beginning of the Arthur’s Day global events. In Dublin there’ll be live music events in over 30 venues across Dublin “from intimate gigs in 28 Dublin pubs to the Tripod, Vicar St, Wehlan’s and The Academy and a big concert in James’s Gate itself.” The problem is - where do you go? The confirmed line-up so far of performers is (*deep breath*): Tom Jones, David Gray, Estelle, … There’s more

Oh, you’re THAT sort of gamer…

I see an awful lot of people online complaining about games that they just purchased, and how bad the game is in their eyes. One thing that is quite common about them though, is that they never actually bothered to even have a quick read to see what the game is about. So please, to keep all the Internet forums free of this useless drivel: Don’t buy Halo if you don’t want to shoot aliens in space, or get your ass handed to you by whiny American ten year olds. Don’t buy Guitar Hero or Rock Band if you don’t want to pretend to be a rock star when actually, you’re just looking like a twat with a piece of plastic. Don’t buy Left 4 Dead or Resident Evil if you don’t want to be in a zombie apocalypse fighting your way to safety. Don’t buy Need for Speed or … There’s more

Some Guinness and a little parade thing

St. Patrick’s Day dawned sunny and bright this year and miraculously kept up the brightness for the whole day! I made my way to the bus stop and after playing the buses a little with some inspiration from TheChrisD, I shunned the first sardine express and got me a nice seat on the next bus about three minutes later-yay! Aside from the usual crowds, the flags, the greenery, the teenagers, there was also a great buzz about town. Thanks to Pix.ie, I had a pass for the viewing area on O’Connell Street, giving me enough access to get near the front and take some great up close pictures, like this: You can see the rest of my pictures on my Pix.ie page. Afterwards silly me headed towards St. Patrick’s Cathedral but forgot what I was doing and ended up meeting the end of the parade at least twice more … There’s more
