Hard Working Class Cousins

There’s some really dynamite collective nouns out there. Murder of crows aside, there’s a smack of jellyfish, a sleuth of bears, a pounce of cats, an unkindness of ravens and (apparently) an implausibility of gnus. Recently while walking up O’Connell Street I came up with a “depression of junkies”, but now I need one for cousins. Maybe a carafe of cousins? The reason for this is that in the run up to this year’s Hard Working Class Heroes, members of three Dublin based acts on the rise and in this year’s lineup have outed themselves as none other than a carafe of cousins. Hard Working Class Heroes 2010: Full Details Announced

Festival season may have just ended but fear not music lovers for you can still get your fix as the Hard Working Class Heroes (HWCH) festival returns to Dublin on the 7th, 8th and 9th of October. Now in it’s 8th year, the 2010 festival is bigger than ever as Dublin city centre becomes the location for a series of initiatives aimed at breaking down the traditional barriers and bringing budding Irish musical talent to a bigger audience. Widely regarded as the leading light for emerging Irish music, HWCH has helped launched the careers of many stellar acts, with past performers including Villagers and Fionn Regan and this years lineup is of a similarly excellent quality.
