It’s Complicated: review

I saw It’s Complicated last week and although Niall had already talked about it here, I thought I’d give you my tuppenceworth too. To put it very simply, Jane and Jake are married, have three children and divorce after twenty years of marriage. Fast forward ten years, Jake has a young wife and step son, both of whom he struggles to keep up with, Jane is single and has thrown all of her energies and passions into her business. They sleep together unexpectedly and the ensuing what will we do, will we get back together, will we tell the children, will we have an affair dilemmas form the basis of the film.

In the first of a 12 part series I take a look at what you can expect to see in Irish cinemas in the year ahead. 2010 promises to be another bumper year on the cinematic front, as new technologies and old favourites make their way on to the silver screen. Trailer Trash - Nov 11th, 2009

I love trailers. They are like little bite-size nibbles of cinematic treats. Just addictive enough to leave you wanting more but without the heavy, bloated feeling of a full feature. So what new goodies await us this week? Clash of the Titans is a big-budget live action remake of the 1981 Ray Harryhausen stop-motion animated movie of the same name. The plot is loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus, who was born a god but raised as a man. Unable to save his family from underworld god Hades, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from his brother Zeus and unleash hell on Earth. So expect lots of fighting, fire and thunderbolts. Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier directs Terminator: Salvation star Sam Worthington, current dial-a-bad-guy Ralph Fiennes and Ireland’s own Liam Neeson in what is shaping up to be one … There’s more
