New levels of ridiculousness…

I arrived back from holiday late last night and went straight to hit the hay. This morning I awoke afresh but in need of the old reliables for the tae and the toast. So I ventured to the local Spar for fresh bread and milk. Usually when I walk into a newsagent the first thing I do is to glance at the newspaper stand to see what’s going on in the world. And as so this morning, a copy of the ever classy publication that is The Sun jumped out at me. The headline went thus… What the fuck? Apparently Jade has spoken to her mother, Jackiey (with a y) Budden, from beyond the grave to say marrying Jack Tweed “was the biggest mistake of my life”. C’mon, is nothing sacred? Clearly not. Jackiey (with a y) claims she was able to communicate with her late daughter through TV psychic … There’s more

Tell me it’s Not True…

…say it’s just a story, something on the news. Wait for it…they are making Jade the Musical. I kid you not - see! Jade Goody’s family and friends have revealed plans for a musical based on her life. The stage show was announced at a party held to honour and remember the Big Brother star who lost her battle with cervical cancer last month. The show could begin production within the next few weeks and there will be a nationwide talent search for the girl who will play Jade. Surely there has to be a pecking order for these things, Ghandi-The Musical, Diana-The Musical, Mo Mowlam-The Musical, then and only then, maybe Jade, The Musical. I wonder what the will call it…Don’t Cry For Me East Anglia?

Jade Goody dies.

Jade Goody died in her sleep today following a public battle with cancer, her publicist Max Clifford said. The reality TV star died with her mother Jackiey Budden at her side at her home in Upshire, Essex, at 3.14am on Mother’s Day. Referring to how her public battle with cancer has raised awareness of the disease, Mr Clifford said: “I think she’s going to be remembered as a young girl who has, and who will, save an awful lot of lives. “She was a very, very brave girl. “And she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life – full on, with a lot of courage.” Mr Clifford said he hoped Goody’s family would now be left in peace to grieve. “I think she’s going to be remembered as a young girl who has, and who will, save an awful lot of lives” says Clifford, but will … There’s more

She’s Dead - OK!

The latest issue of tabloid magazine OK! has hit the stands featuring a Jade Goody tribute edition. While the terminally ill reality TV star continues her battle with cancer, the front cover of the celebrity magazine expressed “In Loving Memory” and “Jade Goody 1981-2009″. The 27-year-olds rapidly worsening condition left medics suggesting she may have just a few hours to live before cervical cancer takes her life, and presumably OK! thought it would make financial sense to hedge their bets and have a magazine that won’t be out of date in a few days time. Now, I’m no fan of Jade Goody and whatever opinions we may have about her selling her story and herself, whatever your thoughts on how she has or has not raised cancer awareness, surely you have to agree that this is a disgracefully tasteless move by OK! Thoughts?
