UPDATED : See below Villagers are (is) adding a second date for Vicar St on Wednesday 22 December. This gig is in addition to a 7-date tour of Ireland in December that will take in Waterford, Kilkenny, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Belfast and Dublin. Villagers have already had a meteoric year with the release of their debut album, Becoming A Jackal (Domino), in May, which went straight to Number 1 in Ireland and the nomination for this year’s Mercury Music Prize Album Of The Year, not to mention the heaving tents at both Oxegen and Electric Picnic. I’m taking Friday 25 September off work. Definitely. This afternoon we were at the launch of the Guinness 250 Arthur’s Day Celebrations. We watched The Chapters and Noah and the Whale perform. Here’s Noah and the Whale performing Rocks and Daggers: What’s Arthur’s Day? Well, on Thursday September 24 2009 at 17:59 Dublin time, there’ll be a toast to Arthur Guinness to mark 250 years since the signing of the 9,000 year lease on the James’s Gate Brewery and to kick off the beginning of the Arthur’s Day global events. In Dublin there’ll be live music events in over 30 venues across Dublin “from intimate gigs in 28 Dublin pubs to the Tripod, Vicar St, Wehlan’s and The Academy and a big concert in James’s Gate itself.” The problem is - where do you go?
