Comedy Review: The Tunnel Comedy Club, Drogheda

On Saturday 14th I ventured to the Tunnel Comedy Club in Drogheda for my first out-of-Dublin comedy review. The venue itself is located quite literally in a cellar. It’s down an alleyway, brightly lit I’m happy to report. On walking into the pub you are faced with an actual tunnel complete with stone wall surroundings. I must admit I was very impressed with the venue. It is certainly very well set up for comedy. MC for the evening was club owner Harry McGarry. Harry has great stage presence and is very energetic. It is this energy and enthusiasm which transfers to the audience and makes them want to go along with him for the ride. From tales of unwanted Christmas presents and how to deal with them to getting fit, Harry had the audience in stitches. Comedy Review: Kusanta Comedy Club

On the 29th December, I returned to my old stomping ground of Tallaght to review Kusanta Comedy Club. To be honest I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. What I got was a fun-filled night full of laughter. As a venue for comedy Kusanta works very well. It’s quite a large room and when I arrived it was pretty much packed to capacity; always a good sign of course! There was a good mix of people in the crowd, ranging from the young people to the older generation, which was nice to see for a change. At the front door I was greeted warmly and while standing taking in the room, I was asked if I was looking for seats. This all added to a feel-good experience, even before the comedy began. Events: McGrattans Comedy Club Christmas Special

Following on from their hugely succesful opening night where they raised over €700 for Electric Aid, McGrattans Comedy Club are back with a sterling cast of comedians and guess what? It’s all for charity once again! Once more the club have decided to give the proceeds to Electric Aid’s African Campaign. Your MC for the night is Mickey Noone, who writes some funny poetry… Ben Farrell returns for his second outing, he was that good the first time! Lisa Joyce is making her McGrattans debut, she may be small but has a big stage presence! Kevin Doyle will be tickling funny bones and pushing boundaries… Pat McDonnell of Father Ted fame will be making a special guest appearance!
