Culch.ie’s Oxegen ’11 Soundtrack

It’s that time of year again. The full Oxegen 2011 line-up has been announced and you’ve got to make up your mind about whether you’re still young enough to enjoy dancing in a field and being covered in more muck than Babe. (A good indicator of youth is whether or not you remember Babe and if you don’t, piss off, we can’t afford to get any more frown lines glaring at you). Coldplay, The Script, Arctic Monkeys, Paulo Nutini, Foo Fighters, The Black Eyed Peas…those are the ones your Ma could name if the music police had her over a barrel (not that we’d be making assertions about anyone having your Ma over a barrel, hot and all as she obviously is, sure didn’t she make you). Oxegen 2009: What’s Hot

Alright, I’m a little late but I’ll be brief. This years Oxegen line-up, while not as fresh or new as previous years, hosts some great acts. There’s a lot of cross over anyone who has been to Oxegen before will know that the stages are all quite close together meaning if you time it correctly you can catch 45 minutes of an act and move on to something else. ACDC - versus - the highway to hell….?

acdc played ireland june 28th 2009. Everything that could go wrong on ‘the organisers’ part did. The question is… was it worth it? Firstly, I dont want to take away from the band themselves and the music… most important to me….. but when one pays €153 just to get there. I also bought a car park ticket that I didn’t use. Instead I got the bus. Another €40 for me and John. Throw in some food and a few drinks and you have a pretty expensive day. I work darned hard for my extra spondulas. No matter what….. I did get to see ACDC. They are legends. And for that it was worth it but… similar to the saga that existed when Oasis played I guess it simply left a bad taste in my mouth. Had my list of bands to see. The ones I never thought I would So I could tell my children. I got my ticket. Thanks to Rickys post. Of course there’s the rick-train? It’s now sold out.
