On the QT - Part 8

“We had rehearsed this stunt where Stuntman Mike was half in and half out of his car at what was as close to 100mph that we could safely get. It looked awesome. When we went for the actual take, it was going even better than the rehearsals, so I called the camera car on the walkie and asked the camera man if we were getting it. Instead of turning his head 90 degrees to check, he just said yes. We lost it, the camera wasn’t even fucking turned on. What did I do? I screamed and shouted. We tried again 5 or 6 times but it just wasn’t the same. I walked off set, it was the closest I’ve ever come to a diva fit. That was one of the worst moments of my working life. A shot that would have bumped that car chase out of this world even … There’s more

And because there are so many new trailers out in the last week or so, I thought it best to give them a lovely wee post all to themselves: Scorsese’s Shutter Island is the story of two U.S. marshals who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane: In The Stepfather remake, a sociopath wants more than anything to have the perfect family but each time his new wife and stepchild don’t meet his requirements, he slaughters them and moves on, finds a new family and starts again: I’m not too interested in the Fame remake, but the impressive cast and fresh sound will undoubtedly guarantee a decent box office take:

How many different versions of classic tales can there be? IMDB lists over 200 different films with the character Count Dracula in them (I’m sure there’s more) and Dr. Henry Jekyll has appeared in over 60 titles. What’s being added after each retelling? What’s been taken away? The entire mystery element of the Jekyll and Hyde story has long since been quashed so… …I don’t see what Keanu Reeves new version of the Jekyll and Hyde tale, Jekyll, can add. James Nesbitt had an excellent mini-series on BBC two years ago with the same title. That definitely had a fresh slant on the story, so I guess Reeves’ movie could do the same. I’m dubious. Vin Diesel is set to play and expert driver in a new movie. 3 Fast 3 Furious? Nope - it’s called The Wheelman. Pointless! Director of 3 Saw movies and the incredible Repo: The Genetic … There’s more

Firstly, come join us next Thursday in Cineworld to see Jason Statham’s latest actioner, Crank 2: High Voltage. Sure, it’ll be a larf. Robert Rodriguez is revisiting the Grindhouse. He is making a movie out of the fake trailer Machete. Danny Trejo will reprise his role in what will undoubtedly be a gore fest. Rodriguez has also announced that he will be resurrecting the Predator franchise. He is going to make a prequel to the first Schwarzenegger movie called Predators. In Rodriguez’ hands, I’d be confident that we’ll get a great movie. But before all of that, Mr Rodriguez will be bringing out Neverackers, a futuristic thriller where a utopian society is disrupted by rebellion and a special team is formed to handle the crime wave. He’s a busy man. Denzel Washington is reteaming with Tony Scott again (and The Taking of Pelham 123 hasn’t even been released yet) for … There’s more
