Poe Show, spooky tales and story telling

Poe Show is returning to Bewleys Café Theatre on 20 October for the Halloween season having played earlier this year to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe, American writer and Gothic master of mysterious and macabre tales. It features some of Poes most terrifying, dark tales and poems with a backdrop of live music…no doubt eery, spooky music. If you enjoy Poes work, storytelling or ghost stories I think this will be a great event to go to, especially at this time of the year. Poe Show will be performed for two weeks from Tuesday 20 Oct (preview Mon 19th) with the final performance, fittingly, on Halloween. Shows are every day at 1.10pm (doors open 12.50pm), with an additional 8pm show on Halloween.

Absolut Fringe Festival: The Legend of Zocorro review

Last night saw me venture to the intimate surrounds of Bewleys Café Theatre on Grafton Street to see ‘The Legend of Zocorro’. The official blurb told me this: “Quixotic Zocorro, storms into Ireland charged with a high dose of testosterone, to take on the giants of child minding, hospital administration, Ryanair and the kingdom of Kerry. “She was always a good girl with a strong back and sturdy hips”, says Zocorro’s mother. Warning: Strong language and adult content. Irish Finalist and Edinburgh Semi-Finalist in the 2007 “So You Think You’re Funny?” Channel 4 competition. Best Actress Nominee Dublin Fringe 2002.” So not much really!
