Open Auditions: Cuckoo

Fancy yourself an actor? As yet undiscovered and just waiting to wow the nation with your talents? Cuckoo, one of the upcoming web TV shows for the latest series of RTE’s Storyland, is holding open auditions to cast not one, not two or even three but five parts. The brand new psychological thriller is looking for stars to portray red-haired restless teen Niamh, 52-year-old Maureen who’s a buxom motherly type, brassy rough Tina (37), 17-year-old Sarah, Niamh’s partner in crime, and 54-year-old Brendan, a quiet family man with an unexpected Alpha male side. Get your votes in for RTE’s Storyland final - it’s city vs culchie

Have you been following Storyland on RTÉ? It’s down to the final two shows - Rental Boys and Hardy Bucks - almost a case of city vs culchie… Rental Boys - the story of two feuding video stores - stars some of the crew from the Diet of Worms. We’ve followed the team around for the past few months bringing us up to date with Brian (played by Shane Langan), the disgruntled Movie Visions employee who aspires to be a sci-fi screen writer, with Darren (played by Paul Butler-Lennox) and his introducing of the tanning beds to the store while Andrew (played by Rory Conolly) and Sharon (played by Amy Stephenson) provide some interesting (to say the least) storylines in the background. Storyland - now you are calling the shots

Heard about Storyland on the RTE Website? No? Here’s the spiel from October when the project was announced: RTÉ has launched StoryLand, an innovative project, inviting aspiring and experienced programme makers to make a drama series specifically for the web, From the pitches received, a panel chaired by Irish scriptwriter and actor Mark O’Halloran (Adam & Paul, Garage, Prosperity) will decide 10 winning entries to have their pilot episode aired in March 2009. Programme makers are invited to make pitches for a 6-part drama series aimed at the 19-25 year old audience to be webcast in March 2009. All of the 10 entries to make it through the first round will have their pilot webcasted on the RTE website The audience will vote on-line and decide which series should be re-commissioned for second and subsequent episodes.
