This in from Rob of The Laya Healthcare 2013 Street Performers World Championships:   This year we have added a busker’s stage to the bill at the 7th annual Street Performance World Championships in Merrion Square and we are looking for YOUR participation. Are you a musician, comedian, circus act, can you engage a crowd through spoken word or burn up a dance floor with your moves? We want to know what tricks you’ve got up your sleeve and we’re open to suggestions, maybe what you do is so out-there that nobody’s put a word on it yet! DUBLIN 2: Top of Grafton Street, outside St.Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre Friday May 25th @ 1pm ‘Professional freak’ and daredevil The Lizardman is one of this year’s 16 finalists of the Street Performance World Championship and will launch the festival this Friday by performing a free street show at 1pm at the top of Grafton Street, outside St.Stephen’s Green. Straight from the presser, with a few mild edits………. Also known as Erik Sprague, The Lizardman is one of the most iconic street performers worldwide and even has his own lifesize statue in Ripley’s Believe It or Not. If you like cockalikee soup, darjeeling a [phonetically spelt] cuwassant flavoured bagel with your afternoon nap then this gig is not for you. If however you like to be be entertained [and I mean really entertained] by some of the odd, wierd, wonderful and hilarious that may not simply be the cup of feng shui for the Pat Kenny Christmas jumper fanatic, then this one is for you. The one thing I love about the #SPWC and #SPWC12 will be no different….. you like Donny Osmond she likes Cliff Richard. You like Bronski Beat she likes Hendrix…. ok I’m straying off the point…. erm… you know those Domino’s Pizza’s that you can put her toppings on one side, yours on the other [much better....] like that, but now imagine each topping is the worlds best ever busker and with with so many different acts you can simply take a nibble … There’s more →
