Festival line-up season is in full swing. Belfast correspondent, White Rabbit, previews August’s Belsonic Festival to whet your southern appetite and coax you aboard the Enterprise for a swift trip up north. With possibly their most random line up to date, Belfast’s Belsonic Festival returns to Custom House Square in August for your entertainment and your money. Slowly growing in size each year, the festival aims to cater to all musical tastes and this year seems to be no exception. Although he has both the hair and face of an arse, people much cooler than thou claim that Skrillex is worth listening to. The Rubberbandits are playing the Pavilion in Cork on Tuesday 21 December. If they leave a horse outside it will have to be locked in the Hugenot Grounds across from the Pav for safety. Villagers are (is) adding a second date for Vicar St on Wednesday 22 December. This gig is in addition to a 7-date tour of Ireland in December that will take in Waterford, Kilkenny, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Belfast and Dublin. Villagers have already had a meteoric year with the release of their debut album, Becoming A Jackal (Domino), in May, which went straight to Number 1 in Ireland and the nomination for this year’s Mercury Music Prize Album Of The Year, not to mention the heaving tents at both Oxegen and Electric Picnic. TICKETS Thin Lizzy is touring again. OK, obviously this is Thin Lizzy without its former very famous front man Phil Lynott. The new line-up is Scott Gorham (Guitar - Thin Lizzy), Brian Downey (Drums - Thin Lizzy), Darren Wharton (keyboards - Thin Lizzy), Vivian Campbell (Guitar - Def Leppard), Marco Mendoza (Bass Guitar - Whitesnake, Ted Nugent) and Ricky Warwick (Lead vocals/Guitar), and they are playing The Waterfront on 16 February and Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on 17 February 2011.
