Sea Sessions 2012 Non-music, Fun bits!

So, we’ve been looking up the treats on offer ahead of our summer trip to Bundoran, and if you thought Sea Sessions was purely the choons and the sandy sambos you were dead wrong! The festival also incorporates surf and sports events to boot and will host the UK and Ireland’s only Association of Surfing Professionals European specialty event. The more we hear about it, the more we can’t wait to get to Donegal this June to experience the likes of this stuff. Take a look, because a lot of requires advance booking. The comedy line-up around these parts has been somewhat stellar this year. Dara O’Briain’s had an epically long Vicar Street run, Eddie Izzard played a blinder in the O2 not 12 months ago, Flight of the Conchords sold out two nights at the Olympia and could have sold out a good many more and along with all of that the usual calendar staples of the Kilkenny Cat Laughs and the Comedy Carnival in the Iveagh Gardens had impressive line-ups to boot. The good news is, the comedy season isn’t over and the even better news is that Culch.ie, with thanks to our simply awesome friends at MCD, would like to send you along to not one and not two but three comedy shows at Dublin’s Olympia this October and November. The Horse Show Hustle - nothing to do with epileptic horses

There’s an important charity fundraising event happening in Dublin next weekend. It’s in aid of Brainwave, the Irish Epilepsy Association and it’s called the Horse Show Hustle, which, funny enough, has pretty much nothing to do with horses. Continuing on the tradition of a ball after the Dublin Horse Show (where tickets were €150), this year Brainwave are keeping the title but bringing the fundraiser ticket price to a recession friendly €30 and holding it in Krystle, who have donated the venue for the evening. It’s not an event for the horsey set - in fact Brainwave think it’s just a great night out with some good music. On the line-up is David Kitt (with a five piece band), The Chapters, History of Harry and Colour in Countries (formerly All Star Charge), recent headliners at the Love Music, Hate Racism event. Fancy seeing some live comedy for free while contributing to a TV show - a panel quiz show with a difference - and having a laugh? Then this could be just the thing for you. Silly, that’s what the country needs right now and that’s exactly what it’ll get with this brand new panel show presented by Jason Byrne. The Byrne Ultimatum shows are being recorded in the Draiocht Theatre, Blanchardstown, on Tuesday and Wednesday July 28 and 29 and Monday and Tuesday 14 and 15 September.
