Movie trailer for Michael Jackson THIS IS IT

Last month I posted about the upcoming Michael Jackson movie ‘THIS IS IT’ due out on October 28th for two weeks only worldwide. At the time I couldn’t find a trailer for it, but discovered this one today. It looks as shiny and sparkly and amazing as I thought it would! I’m not sure how difficult it is going to be to get tickets** but no doubt it’ll be available on dvd just in time for Christmas for those who don’t make it to the cinema! THIS IS IT **There is no listing for a release date in Ireland on the website, I will try to find out if it will be released here at all and post it up here one way or the other** ***Tickets are now on sale for This Is It in UCI so please check with your local cinema***

The music composed by birds on a wire in a photo

Jarbas Agnelli saw a photograph in his local newspaper. Reading a newspaper, I saw a picture of birds on the electric wires. I cut out the photo and decided to make a song, using the exact location of the birds as notes (no Photoshop edit). I knew it wasn’t the most original idea in the universe. I was just curious to hear what melody the birds were creating. I sent the music to the photographer, Paulo Pinto, who I Googled on the internet. He told his editor, who told a reporter and the story ended up as an interview in the very same newspaper. Isn’t that brilliant?

Watch the full-length video for Robbie William’s BODIES here

Darren’s blogged the song, but released over on RobbieWilliams.com is the new video for Bodies. It’s directed by Vaughan Arnell, acclaimed director of the classic Robbie videos for Angels, Feel, Let Me Entertain You, Millennium, Radio, Rock DJ, Somethin’ Stupid and Supreme. Clever folk over on Robbie’s website have made it so you can’t watch the video before you share it through their widget. Not a bad idea. Anyhow, here’s the video. What do you think of it?

Watch the new Delorentos video for S.E.C.R.E.T

Eoghan Kindey‘s new video for the Delorentos song S.E.C.R.E.T was released online today. Featuring an impressive cast including actress Aoibheann McCaul, Fionn Kidney, vlogger and singer extraordinaire Klara McDonnell, Isabel Mc Cann, actress April Bracken and someone who either is or bears an incredible likeness to Mr Peter Donegan, the video was shot in the Hotel Marino. Check it out in all its glory here.

B Flat is all kinds of wonderful on YouTube

Edit - I am lame - this was already covered on Friday. Apologies y’all. Take 20 YouTube videos of instruments all playing in Bb major with simple floating textures. Embed them all on one single page to make something really, really wonderful. That’s what inbflat.net is. Now I don’t feel guilty wasting time with YouTube. Liberty Hall lit up on Wednesday as part of the Playhouse project

I posted the other day about the Playhouse project as part of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival. I was at the launch on Wednesday and took a short, shaky video of how it looked from the Temple Bar Gallery. It’s shaky, it’s at double speed and it’s got a dodgy tune, but Liberty Hall itself looked amazing. Part of me wished I’d known nothing about it beforehand and was just walking over O’ Connell Bridge and spotted it. Like the 100 people or so there I was mesmerised. I cannot wait to see what creativity gets broadcast from the building onto the city skyline.

Erinn’s cover of “I’m Yours” with his own You Tube band

If you’re thinking of something to create online for your loved one, you could do worse than take Erinn’s example. Here’s his first YouTube video, dedicated to his girlfriend on her birthday. Awww. What did he do? Well, he took Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours“, found nine different You Tubers playing the song - ukelele, bass, drums, guitar, piano, steel drums, flute and trombone and stuck it all together to make quite an endearing, lovely song! Pretty great, eh? You can also download it here. Spotted over on Today’s Big Thing -the awesomest thing on the Internet, every day.

This may be one of the best videos I’ve seen this year

Bobby McFerrin (yes, the Don’t Worry, Be Happy guy) has some fun with the audience at the World Science Festival in New York in June. Just watch this. Honestly, it’s 3 minutes you won’t regret. He was demonstrating ” the power of the pentatonic scale” at an event called “Notes & Neurons: In Search of the Common Chorus“. This was a discussion to find out “Is our response to music hard-wired or culturally determined? Is the reaction to rhythm and melody universal or influenced by environment?” All the videos from the event are available online. I’m setting aside time to watch them all.

Irish porno movie - all the pleasure, none of the guilt

After a video this week where someone’s head was blown off, a post about mass murder and another glorifying vigilantes, I’m going to follow the disgraceful posting on Culch.ie with an Irish porno movie - starring Dick Spring as the TV license inspector - which was shown at Leviathan last night. It’s made by those creative folk at dorismagee. Only watch if you are over legal age, are capable of handling such a delicate plot and searing storyline with the sparkling dialogue positively… You’re not even reading that are you? You just want to see the movie. Go on, it’s below…

Democracy and Dialogue Short Online Film Competition

Darklight Film Festival and the European Commission Representation in Ireland have teamed up to create an interesting short online film competition for budding film makers. The theme of the competition is ‘Democracy & Dialogue’ - and what it means to you. 2009 is the European Year of Creativity and Innovation - a celebration of how ideas can change society. Online media is a powerful force in the 21st Century: using the internet as a forum for debate, individuals can bypass the established press, TV and radio, and let the power of their ideas make change. And this is where you come in… What they want you to do is make a short film inspired by the notion of Democracy & Dialogue. Film it on anything from your mobile phone to a state of the art video camera, it doesn’t matter. Then upload the finished product to a video hosting site … There’s more
