The fourth entry in the 2011 Short Stories film making competition, “Isle of Man Tourist Trophy” takes viewers into the world of Road Racing, a world which flies past at two hundred miles an hour. The Film makers have given us a stunning visual evocation of the sweeping landscape of the Isle of Man, and the extreme focus of the men and women who participate every year to test its roads. Grunge band, SOUTH and ‘The Making of Insula’

Kilkenny grunge band, South are due to release their first album ‘Insula’ on Friday next week, 31 July in Whelans. South came together in June 2008, and went on to win the Hype Entertainment Battle Of The Bands just three months later. Following the competition the band underwent a line-up change; founding members Thomas Donoghue (Guitar/Vocals) and Ken Farrell (Bass) were joined by Alan Dawson (Drums/Vocals). The trio spent several months writing and rehearsing material for their debut album which was recorded in the Mill Studios in April 2009 as part of their Battle Of The Bands winnings. They were joined in the studio by film maker/photographer Ross Costigan, who shot and produced the three part mini-series ‘The Making of Insula’. As We Were Saying…

Darragh posted this a few days ago and we discussed the reality of an Irish flash mob. It reminded me of something I was supposed to post ages ago. In February, Diet of Worms kindly gave up their time one afternoon to film two short pieces for the categories in the Blog Awards.
