All together now… when the moon hits your eye…

When the moon hits your eye, Like a big pizza pie, that’s amoré. One of my favourite lines from a song. You’ll normally sing along. But if you change just a bit, could it be as big a hit? When an eel bites your hand, And that’s not what you planned, that’s a Moray. When a Japanese knight uses his sword in a fight, that’s samurai. When your horse munches straw, And the bales total four, that’s some more hay. When your sheep go to graze, in a damp marshy place, that’s a moor, eh? When you ace your last tests, like you did all the rest, that’s some more “A”s! When on Mt. Cook you see, An aborigine, That’s a Maori. I’m trying to think of more since I got the email today. Can you help?

What the Numa Numa guy (Gary Brolsma) did next

You may not know the name Gary Brolsma or know the tune of the song Dragostea din tei by Romanian band O-zone offhand, but if I said it’s the Numa Numa video from 2004, one of the most famous internet virals out there, you’d probably get it. Have a look at his most recent outing. Geek that I am, I’m terribly impressed by his performance with the MSU Marching Band. I love seeing the online and offline merge. The way it should be. Gary’s myspace is here.

Don’t ask what I was looking for when I found this

I tell you, I don’t really know what to think of this “Best wedding toast ever” video. So tempted to arrange it for someone. Would hate it to be done to me though! From Amy on You Tube: “This is my Man of Honor’s speech from my wedding on April 28, 2007 in Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Florida. In this magical moment, I seriously felt like my heart was going to explode!” She certainly looks it in the video!

Democracy and Dialogue Short Online Film Competition

Darklight Film Festival and the European Commission Representation in Ireland have teamed up to create an interesting short online film competition for budding film makers. The theme of the competition is ‘Democracy & Dialogue’ - and what it means to you. 2009 is the European Year of Creativity and Innovation - a celebration of how ideas can change society. Online media is a powerful force in the 21st Century: using the internet as a forum for debate, individuals can bypass the established press, TV and radio, and let the power of their ideas make change. And this is where you come in… What they want you to do is make a short film inspired by the notion of Democracy & Dialogue. Film it on anything from your mobile phone to a state of the art video camera, it doesn’t matter. Then upload the finished product to a video hosting site … There’s more

World premiere of the new Budweiser ad

This is Budweiser Lyrics, the new ad due to premiere on Sky Digital this Saturday. You can see the advertisement on a bigger screen here. It’s part of their new All Together Now campaign which is inviting people to upload clips of themselves holding signs, like in the ad, to the lyrics of the song. The website for this will go live on Saturday to coincide with the launch. The ad, written by Dave Henderson and Richard Denney, and shot by award winning director Chris Palmer, it was shot over 5 days from an actual train on the metro-rail as it tracked around the city of Chicago. All in all, the film and crew were on the train for 50 hrs over a 5 day period in temperatures that were often below freezing. All Together Now was written by Lennon & McCartney and originally recorded by the Beatles in 1967, … There’s more

13,500 people sing Hey Jude in Trafalgar Square, London

I don’t think I need to add much to this. It made me smile. Even if it is an ad for a phone company. That is P!nk in the crowd. Brought to you by the same people behind the Liverpool Street Station dance. Update: could we do something like this in Ireland? What song would we sing? Answer here!

Susan Boyle, Britain’s Got Talent and video editing

Maybe I’m far too cynical. Maybe I’m internet weary, You Tube weary and because I work in the industry, I can see the machinations behind it, but I just can’t sit and enjoy the video of Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent. Even when I saw it on TV, as good as she is, I can’t help wondering what else is at play here. The You Tube video is now up to (at lime of typing) an incredible 12,116,512 views, with other versions hitting well over the million mark. That’s a lot of people watching this woman who has become an internet sensation. While You Tube won’t allow embedding, here’s a fairly alright version from Break.com So who is Susan Boyle? She’s 47, from West Lothian and apparently she’s “never been kissed” and had, until 2007, been looking after her mother. According to this article: She said, “It was incredible. … There’s more
